The town of Duck is a quiet, charming northern Outer Banks seaside town. The wide uncrowded beaches have been ranked among the top in the nation. The town is 7 miles of clean beaches, miles of bike path and a walkable village with shops, restaurants, and a sound front park. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Currituck Sound, Duck stretches from Southern Shores to the Dare County/Currituck line.

Things to Do in Duck, NC

There are many festivals and events to look for in the town of Duck. The coastal town also offers unique shopping with many locally-owned boutiques and cottage shops. There are several shopping centers clustered together if you would like to make a day trip. You’ll find toy shops, book stores, women’s boutiques and art galleries all tucked away in the heart of Duck.

If something on the water is what you are after, try fishing, or rent a kayak, or Jet Ski. Learn to windsurf, or go parasailing. Many rental companies offer surf lessons with the rentals, or rent a bike and use the bike path to ride up to the Duck Research Pier. There are many adventures for the skilled outdoorsman, or the vacationer who is looking for an activity outside their comfort zone.

The restaurants in Duck are some of the best on the Outer Banks. Dine on the deck watching the sunset over the sound at The Blue Point, or savor a glass of wine under a canopy of live oaks. Take everyone out for a fresh seafood dinner, or grab a slice of pizza and enjoy an ice cream cone.
